Future Legends Cheer and Dance Frequently Asked Questions

Background Checks

All coaches, gym owners, gym/program staff, and athletes 18 years or older requiring access to warm-up, backstage, or coaches’ areas must submit proof of a background check to futurelegendscheeranddance@gmail.com prior to the event.

Background checks dated July 2026 or later will be accepted from WASF, AAU, USASF, or another verifiable national background check provider.

Divisions

Divisions may be opened, closed, or combined at any time.

Performance Order

Performance order changes are at the discretion of Future Legends Cheer and Dance.

Crossovers

We will do our best to allow 20 minutes between performance times for crossovers. This is not a guarantee. We cannot hold the awards ceremonies for the scheduling of crossover or coaches that crossover between teams. Please review the times prior to make accommodations for your teams.

Credentials at Event

Credentials must be worn at all times. No access to the warm-up area, coach room, or Score Review will be allowed without valid credentials.

All coaches requiring access to the warm-up area must complete a background check and concussion training.

No Tumbling or Stunting Outside of Authorized Area

Tumbling and stunting are only allowed on the performance floor and in the warm-up area.

Coaches On Performance Stage

Coaches for Tiny and Cheer Abilities teams may sit on stage during performances (max 3 coaches, seated on designated spot).

No Shows and Scratches

We understand that things don’t always go as planned. That said, because of the extensive planning, staffing, and production involved in every Future Legends event, payments for no-shows or scratches cannot be refunded for any reason. Fees are retained to offset costs already incurred in preparing your competition experience.

Routine Interruption

At any time during the competition, a coach, judge, music representative, or the athlete themselves may stop a routine due to injury or illness occurring on the performance floor.

If a routine is stopped, the team may elect to perform again. The timing of the re-performance will be determined at the discretion of the Event Producer, and judging will resume from the point of interruption.

Prior to returning to the floor, the injured athlete must be cleared by:

  • Event medical personnel

  • A parent or legal guardian

  • The athlete’s head coach or gym owner

The Event Producer reserves the right to prohibit an athlete from returning to the floor if they determine that doing so would pose a safety risk.

Inclement Weather

At Future Legends events, cancellations are extremely rare; however, the safety of all participants remains our highest priority.

In the event that Future Legends cancels a competition, and it is not rescheduled, all teams will receive a full refund.

If the venue remains open, the event will proceed as planned, though the schedule may be adjusted or delayed if necessary.

We strongly encourage all programs to build flexibility into their travel arrangements to ensure timely arrival and readiness to perform.

Please be advised that late arrivals may not be eligible for special accommodations, regardless of weather or travel-related circumstances. This policy is in place to ensure a safe, fair, and consistent competition experience for all programs. Teams are encouraged to closely monitor local and national weather forecasts and plan accordingly. When the event begins, performances will proceed as scheduled.

Music Guidelines

Future Legends Cheer and Dance assume no responsibility for the copyright status of a team’s performance music. A program representative is required to sign the Future Legends Cheer and Dance Compliance Form, acknowledging full responsibility for ensuring all music complies with United States copyright laws. This compliance form must be signed prior to warm-up in order for a team to perform.

Playback Policies

  • All performance music will be played at a consistent, preset volume level. Volume adjustments will not be made to accommodate individual tracks.

  • All music must be played from an MP3-capable device.

  • USB drives are not permitted.

  • The designated music representative is responsible for starting and pausing the music.

Device Requirements & Recommendations

  1. Use of YouTube or other streaming services is strongly discouraged, as music playback may be interrupted due to limited or unstable signal strength at the venue.

  2. Devices must have a functioning headphone jack that is free of debris.

    • Teams using devices without a headphone jack (e.g., iPhone 7 and newer models) must provide their own certified adapter.

    • Any music interruption caused by third-party or unrecognized adapters will be the responsibility of the team.
    • Devices must be fully prepared before approaching the DJ stand, including but not limited to:

    • Removing all protective cases

    • Fully charging the device

    • Turning off the lock screen

    • Disabling low power mode

    • Setting volume to maximum

    • Enabling airplane mode

Failure to complete these preparation steps may result in music interruption. In such cases, Future Legends Cheer and Dance cannot guarantee that a team will be allowed to perform again.

Disqualification

Teams may be disqualified for reasons including, but not limited to:

  • Participation of illegal or ineligible athletes

  • Unregistered participants on the performance roster

  • Competing in an incorrect division

  • Inappropriate choreography or music, as determined by event officials

  • Severe demonstrations of unsportsmanlike conduct

  • Any discrepancies involving participant rosters or performance schedules

If a team is found to have unregistered or ineligible participants, or to have competed in an incorrect division, the team will be disqualified. Upon disqualification, all awards, placements, and bids will be revoked. Additionally, the team will not be eligible for any bids for the remainder of the competition season.

Contesting Athlete Eligibility

Registered coaches may submit a formal request to question or contest the age and/or eligibility of an athlete on another team.  There is a $300 fee to be paid before the investigation will begin.  (If the investigation is in favor then fee will be returned if not the contesting team will lose the fee) The following procedures apply:

  • Only registered coaches may lodge an eligibility complaint.

  • All complaints must be submitted to the Event Director before the close of the competition day.

  • The coach submitting the complaint is required to present proof of their own team’s athletes’ age and eligibility at the time the complaint is filed.

  • Only event officials are authorized to investigate or verify athlete eligibility.

All teams are required to maintain clear, unaltered copies of birth certificates or government-issued photo identification for all rostered athletes at every competition. Failure to provide valid documentation upon request may result in disqualification.
